Mixed media and cut paper, 2015-2016
Like all my work, this series explores the threshold of text, image, sound, and body, and while saturated in visual information, is quiet and reflective in mood. On the heels of over 100 drawings with cut paper, this series invites cut paper to compete/ dance/ ground with the hand-drawn mark.
While a subset of drawings entitled ‘Visage’ were often begun with text, the finished drawings frequently include a prototype of the human form, as if reflecting an inevitable emergence of a figure that organizes, and animates the words.
